Athens Guide

Athens - climate

Athens is really a great destination for all sun and warm-lovers since it’s known as one of the sunniest cities in Europe. Summers are hot a dry while in winter, wearing T-shirts and shorts is quite usual. It rains mostly during the winter months. Heavy showers may also occur but they are very exceptional.

During July and August, however, when the mercury often soars to over 40°C together with smog and dust, it’s not highly recommended to travel here.

Winters are mild even though frost can occur and nights can be cold at times. The best time to travel to Athens is during the cooler periods, especially spring and autumn.
